How to Transfer and Register a Sharjah Registered Car in Dubai

Nov 11, 2025 - 3 min read

There are two ways to transfer and register a Sharjah registered vehicle in Dubai: offline and online. Below is the complete process for both methods.

1) Offline Process

  • Step 1: Visit the Sharjah Tasjeel Auto Village with your car. The presence of the current owner is a must at Sharjah Tasjeel.
  • Step 2: Do the export to Dubai test at Sharjah Tasjeel Auto Village.
  • Step 3: Once the export test is done, submit the plates at Sharjah Tasjeel and issue a Transfer to Dubai Certificate, transfer certificate can be issued on the current owner’s name or, in case of ownership change, it can be issued on the buyer’s name. For ownership change, the buyer’s driver’s licence must be provided at Sharjah Tasjeel to issue the transfer certificate on the buyer’s name.
  • Step 4: Once the transfer to Dubai certificate is issued and Sharjah process is done, take the vehicle to Dubai for registration:
    • Complete the registration test,
    • Take insurance, and
    • Register the car at RTA.

2) Online Process

If you prefer doing it digitally, here’s how:

  • Step 1: The car owner needs to sign up for the Digital Service Agreement in the Tamm app, if the case is transferring the car with ownership change.
  • Step 2: On the TAMM app, choose ‘Transfer Vehicle File Within UAE’ and select ‘Along with Ownership’ only if you’re transferring with ownership change. You can transfer with/without changing ownership, as per your requirement.
  • Step 3: Submit your car plates at Sharjah Tasjeel or any MOI plate center (in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, or Ajman, any emirate as per your convenience).
  • Step 4: If you’re changing ownership then you need to enter the buyer’s federal traffic file number and make the payment to get the transfer certificate.

Important Notes:

  • To do it manually, you must have the buyer’s driving license picture with you.
  • Buyer’s presence is not required in Sharjah, but it is required for registration in Dubai.
  • For the online process, you must know the buyer’s federal traffic file number.
  • If the buyer has a Dubai license, the federal traffic file number can be found on the MOI app.
