Step 1: Check Your Car’s Registration Status
Before initiating the transfer process, ensure your car’s registration is valid. Even if your registration has expired, it must be within the grace period. This is crucial to avoid any complications during the transfer.
Step 2: Submit Your Number Plates in Abu Dhabi
Remove your current car plates and visit any Abu Dhabi Traffic and Registration Department branch. At the number plate factory within the department, submit your plates as required. This step is essential to initiate the transfer process from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.
Step 3: Apply for a Transfer Certificate via the MOI App or Tamm App
Next, open the Ministry of Interior (MOI) app or Tamm app and select the option for “Transfer Vehicle File within UAE.” Choose Dubai as the new registration destination and complete the payment of 100 AED. Once the payment is processed, you will receive a certificate confirming the transfer of your vehicle to Dubai.
Step 4: Vehicle Testing in Dubai
After obtaining the transfer certificate, take your vehicle to any authorized testing and registration centre in Dubai. Present the transfer certificate during the test. The vehicle must pass this test to ensure it complies with Dubai’s safety and regulatory standards.
Once your vehicle passes the test, the next step is to obtain insurance under your name. With valid insurance in place, you can then proceed to register your car in Dubai. The new registration card will reflect the updated registration details.
